Congratulations New Zealand on Setting Global Benchmark

Congratulations New Zealand on, once again, setting a global benchmark in the days to publication of excellent quality Financial Statements of the Government of New Zealand for the year ended 30 June 2023.  Publication date 5 October 2023 was 97 days following fiscal year end.

By way of comparison, the latest United Kingdom Whole of Government Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2021 (the latest) was published on 20 July 2023, which was over 800 days following fiscal year end.

Worthy of special recognition are: (i) The discussion of Fiscal Resilience – Net Worth on page 28,  (ii) The Statement of Financial Position on page 50, (iii) The NZ Superannuation Fund – Fiscal Indicator Analysis on page 174,  and (iv) The Time Series of Fiscal Indicators on page 181.
